Strong winds today with consistent 19 knots and gusting between 22 and 25 knots saw some gutsy sailing from the Flying Ant fleet.

Some awesome spinnaker runs out to the start line sent the adrenaline rushing, but most of the racing was carefully controlled with few kites to be seen up on the race course.

Heat 3 Luck on the way to tenth title

Dave Luck looks set to take out his tenth Australian Skate National Title being contested at the Toronto Amateur Sailing Club on Lake Macquarie.

After the weighing and measuring on Sunday, racing got under way on Monday with two races back to back.

In the first race The Welshie, sailed by father and daughter team Peter and Tegan Scott, led up the first work until the final tack to the top mark and were overtaken by Any Which Way, sailed by Dave Luck and Damien Vlotman, at the mark. Peter and Tegan regained the lead but made a couple of poor jibes down the first run to give Dave the lead back at the bottom gate.

St George Skate Sailors Dominate First Heat of NSW State Championships

The first heat was sailed in a strong Nor-Easter and strong run out tide which made for testing conditions and several withdrawals.
